Pleasant Ridge Park is 95 scenic acres on the north side of the city. The park has a playground, picnic areas as well as a very early piece of Fairview Heights history known as Kinsella Cabin. Larry Kinsella knows a lot about the place his ancestors named Pleasant Ridge and the cabin. It was passed down to his dad and was Larry's childhood home. Back then it looked different with siding that covered the logs and an addition on the side. The working farm included the house and several other buildings. After his dad died, Larry's mom sold the land. That's when the decision was made to restore the original log cabin. Larry was foreman for what was a big project. A plaque now confirms the cabin's place on the historical register. Visitors to the park can admire the old cabin, hike the trails or enjoy the Iris garden that was dedicated in his mother's honor. It's now a place everyone can enjoy!
