Clayton, MO (KSDK)-- A Richmond Heights woman has pleaded guilty to a St. Louis County charge of knowingly performing an act of prostitution while infected with the HIV virus earlier this year.
Nigaila Gibbs, 21, will be sentenced for the crime on October 7th before Judge Colleen Dolan.
In July, Gibbs was charged after engaging in a sex for money transaction involving an undercover detective who was working a sting operation in June. According to the probable cause statement from the St Louis County Prosecutor, the undercover officer offered Gibbs $70 to engage in sexual conduct with him. The detective's investigation and case brought against Gibbs did not involve the actual performance with the undercover detective, but only a verbal agreement.
Police investigators say Gibbs had various sexual encounters with other men while acting as a paid prostitute, knowing she had a positive infection of HIV.
St. Louis County officers said at the time of Gibbs arrest that two of her previous clients had also received a positive result when tested for HIV.
