Gideon, Missouri (KSDK)-- The Missouri Highway Patrol has identified three people killed in a Monday night crash in the small town of Gideon in far southeast Missouri.
Authorities say 19 year old Dylan Cornett lost control of his northbound Pontiac on Main Street in the heart of the small town and ran off the road. The vehicle drove through a ditch, struck a utility pole and then slammed into a large tree.
Cornett and two passengers in the car; identified as 31 year old Scottie Vires and 15 year old Haley Cagle were all pronounced dead at the crash scene. The accident was first reported around 10:20 Monday evening.
A third passenger in the car, 14 year old Gary Cagle was seriously injured and is hospitalized at a Cape Girardeau hospital.
Troopers say all four of the accident victims were residents of Gideon; a community of less than 1000, and none were wearing seat belts.
