Clayton, MO (KSDK)-- Roy Handley will spend the rest of his natural life behind the walls of the Missouri State Penitentiary for fatally shooting a young Kirkwood woman he once dated.
Handley; who will turn 28 next month, was convicted of first degree murder and armed criminal action last month in the September 2007 slaying of 18 year old Dana Ramey.
Investigators say Handley was walking with the victim and her child near the Kirkwood Commons shopping center, when he slowed up and allowed the two to walk ahead of him. It was then that Handley pulled a gun and fired a single shot into Dana Ramey's head.
Handley then ran from the shooting scene and tossed the gun before hiding himself in a trash dumpster behind a restaurant where police found him soon after.
