KSDK -- An annual tradition for a good cause was not to be hampered by a little rain.
Hundreds spent their lunchtime at Kiener Plaza in downtown St. Louis Friday to support The Annie Malone Children and Family Service Center. There were ribs, chicken wings and much more for a small price. Proceeds go to the center. The event lasts until 4:00 p.m.
Since 1888, Annie Malone Children & Family Service Center has has served members of The Ville community and beyond. It's dedicated to improving the quality of life for abused, neglected, and abandoned children and at-risk families.

The barbecue marks the start of the center's Annual May Day Weekend Celebration which is May 14-16.
Money raised goes to more than 500 children and at-risk families, annually, through its residential treatment, therapeutic school (Emerson Academy), transitional living program, respite care, crisis and emergency placement, and parenting education services.
